Brazillian Pepper Honey
Brazillian Pepper Honey
A honey with a unique, slightly green tint, sweet potato-like taste with a slightly peppery “kick”. During fall, our bees gather nectar from the flowers of the Brazillian Pepper Tree to produce this type of honey.
Although this tree is native to Brazil, this is also invasive to Florida and considered as a noxious tree. While the state is spending much to eradicate it to prevent invading other native trees, our bees don’t know it. Thus, they love and continue collecting their nectars and produce our very own Brazillian Pepper Honey.
Nutritional Benefits of Brazillian Pepper Honey
Since ancient times, honey has become helpful to everyone who wants to consume healthier food or sweetener. One tablespoon of honey usually contains an average of 60 calories and 16 grams of sugar that is mostly composed of fructose, glucose, and sucrose.
Honey doesn’t contain fat, cholesterol, fiber, and protein. Interestingly, it contains antioxidants such as organic acids and phenolic compounds. These antioxidants are linked to being beneficial to the body such as reducing the risk of strokes, heart attacks, high blood pressure, and even cancers. If you are a diabetic, you may also want to consider this as an alternative because this is “less bad” than the usual table sugar.
Also, raw honey is also used to treat some digestive problems, sore throat, or treating wounds.
How to Enjoy It?
You can perfectly enjoy our Brazillian Pepper Honey as pure in a spoonful, as a natural sweetener that you can pair with teas, coffee, cocktails, as drizzles, or prepare your delicious snack and breakfast. Others also include it on various fall recipes such as pumpkin pies and eggnog.
